anyone still here?

well, after many months again we are finally figuring out how to track correctly at the Farmhouse. Our latest effort is a re-do of “To the World”  For the recording geeks out there, this is how we tracked.  The main acoustic part was recorded using a Mid-side mic technique.  We place an AKG 414 in figure 8 pattern “looking” left and right in relationship to the guitar.  We then used a Rode NT5 pointing dead center directly above the AKG.  We recorded this to one stereo track in Logic and used Logic’s directional mixer to decode the left / right / and center.  I think this is the most balanced recording of acoustic guitar we have found.  The vocals were also done in the farmhouse living room with the 414 into the LA-610 with minimal effects added.  Some software piano and pad was added, then we tracked Bailey on a little Djembe and shaker to fill in a bit.  Thanks again to Andrew for helping out big time with this.  This has been a fun ride just learning the art of recording.  We are still nowhere near professionals at this but are edging slightly closer.  Take a listen to the new song under the music tab at the top.  More new songs to come.
